THE DEEP DIVE, HERE ARE ANSWERS TO OUR MOST COMMON QUESTIONS
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS APPROVED FOR USE AGAINST COVID-19?
All products we use are included on the EPA’s List N. List N includes all products that meet the EPA’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. They also meet the EPA's emerging pathogen requirements for viruses showing efficacy against envelope and non-envelope virus, both large and small.
IS THIS PROCESS SAFE FOR MY CHILDREN AND PETS?
Yes. The products we use, hold the lowest toxicity rating available by the EPA making them safe for children and pets. These same products are also rated food-safe by the NSF.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Our hospital-grade disinfectant is the absolute best on the market and the gold standard in our industry. It carries the lowest possible toxicity rating and is food contact surface safe. That said, it has no lingering protective properties. Instead, it will remove 99.99% of any harmful viruses of pathogens that were present previously. Be leary of any products or service providers that claim anything different.
WHAT DOES “NO RINSE REQUIRED ON FOOD CONTACT SURFACES” MEAN AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
“No rinse required on food contact surfaces” is a safety rating given by NSF International (previously the National Sanitation Foundation). The NSF testing guidelines are a continuation of the USDA product approval and listing program, including the FDA 21. Our products are rated “no rinse required on food contact surfaces” category D2, meaning our products are approved for use in commercial or residential kitchens to control bacteria, viruses, and mold without the need to wash/rinse the area with water after they are applied.
Other commercially available products such as the Clorox Total 360 carry a Food Contact Post-Rinse or "FCR" designation meaning that rinsing is required after disinfection in order to be food safe. As such we do not recommend this machine or solution.
CAN DISINFECTION TAKE THE PLACE OF CLEANING?
Disinfectants work best in a clean environment so the product can reach all surfaces. Dirt and grease can block the disinfectant from reaching surfaces so it will not be as effective as when used on a surface where the dirt has been wiped away. Our disinfection services are designed to be added to, not replace your daily cleaning routines.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLEANING, SANITIZING, AND DISINFECTING?
Cleaning removes germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces or objects. Cleaning works by using soap (or detergent) and water to physically remove germs from surfaces. This process does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.
Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces or objects. Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces or objects. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection.
Sanitizing lowers the number of germs on surfaces or objects to a safe level, as judged by public health standards or requirements. This process works by either cleaning or disinfecting surfaces or objects to lower the risk of spreading infection.
DOES YOUR DISINFECTION SOLUTION HAVE BLEACH IN IT?
Our chemical disinfectant does not contain bleach. It is much less caustic, safer and gentler than bleach. Unlike bleach, it breaks down into a simple salt and does not produce harmful by-products to the environment, including trihalomethanes (THM) and haloacetic acids (HAAS). It is not necessary to rinse this product with water after the 10 minute dwell time, will not irritate skin and is food contact surface safe, this makes it safe to use in commercial and residential kitchens.
IS THIS SAFE TO USE ON VEHICLES/FURNITURE/PAINTED SURFACES?
Because disinfectants with chlorine dioxide are not corrosive it is an ideal compound to be used in fogging and surface treatment on sensitive surfaces including cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, computers, etc. Additionally, the product we use is non-ionic and will therefore not break down acid dye blockers in fiber which is what helps preserve the color of fabrics. It is safe for synthetic carpet fibers such as nylon, olefin, or polypropylene but is not intended for use on wool. In addition to disinfecting, it is also highly effective for removing urine and smoke odors, works as an allergen reducer, and is effective on dust mites and pet dander.
IS THE DISINFECTION SOLUTION YOU USE ALL NATURAL OR “GREEN”?
The EPA does not allow for disinfection solutions to carry the “green” designation. However, the chemical solution we use is mild on skin, hard surfaces, and fabric and will certainly qualify for “green status” when the designation is allowed. We’re also pleased to say it contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ELECTROSTATIC FOGGING, ULV FOGGING AND SURFACE SPRAYING?
Electrostatic fogging takes a disinfectant solution and breaks it down into very small droplets (mist) that has been atomized so the droplets “sticks” to surfaces. This is the fastest method of disinfection with the shortest dwell time. It is most ideal for areas with sensitive equipment or loose papers. Area being fogged must be emptied of people and animals. Technicians require full PPE.
ULV fogging is similar to Electrostatic fogging, but the solution is not atomized. The fine mist is sprayed by technicians in full PPE left for a 10 minutes dwell time and then the space must be aired out for 20 minutes before it can be occupied by people or animals. Ideal for spaces that are unoccupied or can be disinfected after regular business hours.
Surface spraying is just as it sounds. A disinfectant is sprayed and left for a 10 minute dwell time to kill any harmful virus’ or pathogens. There is no need to wipe the solution after spraying, it is food contact safe and non-irritating to people and animals. No PPE is required for technicians and the space can be occupied at time of spraying. This is ideal for spaces that can not be closed or vacated completely for cleaning or for high traffic areas during hours of operation. We can help you determine the ideal disinfection plan for your space, utilizing all or some of these methods.
WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
We have approximately 40 different machines that we use to eliminate harmful viruses and pathogens. We use a combination of ULV foggers and surface sprayers from different manufacturers and Electrostatic Sprayers from eMist and Maxcharge. These sprayers are the very best on the market and are currently being used by United & Southwest Airlines respectively. WE HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED DISINFECTION EQUIPMENT, CAN YOU WORK WITH OUR EXISTING EQUIPMENT?
Absolutely! We are happy to craft a customized disinfection services plan that incorporates any equipment you may have already purchased.
